I don’t know if this was widely reported on TV, but I didn’t hear anything about it on the radio.
According to BBC Northern Ireland, a ‘huge explosion’ occurred in the skies over Ireland at 21-00 on Thursday.
Reports came in from Kerry, Cork, Cavan and even as far North as Donegal.
The event is thought to be a meteorite strike.
Being a lot less densely populated than the UK, there is not so much light pollution in Ireland, so things are more visible in the night skies.
At the moment the International Space Station can be seen and I read somewhere the other day, that the Space Shuttle and it’s fuel tank would even be on show.

It’s all news to me ….. mind you most things are ……
Stuff like this fascinates me. Many years ago a customer showed me a meteorite that narrowly missed her uncle while he was out walking, it was the size of a fat sausage and extremely heavy. Would kill you stone dead if it landed on you from 20feet, he had to dig it out of the ground apparently!
